Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny, little town that is a bit sleepy. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing for those who aren't familiar to its significance. They often believe it's an island to the that lies west of Montreal However, the West Island encompasses everything between the two cities that are Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island. But it's not the case. Brugel lived in Courtice close to Oshawa the city of Ontario. When she was a child she hoped to become a performer but an unexpected increase in her height made it difficult. In an article from the Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. After I became too big for my male friends, I quit. Numerous former dancers choose to become actors. In Brugel's case, it was the encouragement by her drama instructor in high school who pushed her in the direction she required. Her teacher invited her to take part in an audition in a school production. She was chosen to play the lead part of Anne of Green Gables after she auditioned for. The show led her to receive a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she graduated with a Master of Fine Arts at York University. In the 20+ years since, Brugel has been offered roles in more than 60 productions across both small and large screens drawing the most media attention after she was offered the character as Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian in the season 1 cast of the show as well as appearing only on occasion, was the only Canadian.
